In His Majesty's Ship Endeavour, In the Years 1768, 1769, 1770, and 1771. Undertaken in Pursuit of Natural Knowledge, at the Desire of the Royal Society, Containing All the various Occurrences of the Voyage with Descriptions of several new discovered Countries in the Southern Hemisphere and Accounts of theor Soil and Productions, and of Policy, Manufactures, etc of their Inhabitants. Printed for T Becket and P. A. De Hondt, in the Strand, London, first edition, second issue minus the dedication leaf, 1771, 130pp plus 4, BP of James Edge Partington, (1854-1930), the renowned British anthropologist and leading authority on Pacific ethnology, with catalogue description pasted in below, half tan calf, marbled endpapers, gilt fore-edges Old water damage to covers causing buckling, small loss with repair to lower left corner of title-page, old staining to upper title-page, otherwise good. A very scarce volume being the first printed account of Cook's first voyage and the discover of the eastern coast of Australia.
