Lander A Henry Savage - In the Forbidden Land (2 Volumes) An Account of a Journey into Tibet, Capture by the Tibetan Lamas and Soldiers, Imprisonment, Torture and Ultimate Release brought about by Dr. Wilson and the Political Peshkar Karak Sing-Pal. Harpers & Brothers Publishers, New York & London, first edition 1899, Vol I, xviii 307pp, Vol II, xiv, 250pp, 1 photogravure, 8 colour plates, 50 full-page and 150 teext illustrations, pictorial green cloth, inscription to front endpaper for Christmas 1899. A nice clean and tight set. The books are a record of the journey in Tibet undertaken by the author in 1897, and are illustrated from his photos and sketches.
