First edition. [Spiral, Wellington, 1983] 469, 8vo wrappers, inscribed on title: “Kia John - / the help from you / & the Maori Education Fund / made this possible - / Arohanui nā / Keri / (Keri Hulme, Okarito)”. Together with an equally excellent copy of the reissue of the first edition. The font on the spine and cover were altered, and the white band on the cover highlighting the author’s name was removed.
