Bickerton Professor - Morganeering or the Triumph of the Trust Full title reads: Morganeering, or, The triumph of the trust: a fragment of a satirical burlesque on the worship of wealth, by Professor Bickerton. Published by the Author, Christchurch possibly 1895. 67,[1]pp, small 8vo wrappers, corner chipped from front wrapper, staples rusting, still a very good copy of this scarce and fragile item. Bagnall B813, dating “ca.1895”, but first reviewed in N.Z. Mail 4 Sep. 1902, and the Lyttelton Times 12 Dec.1902 says “written sixteen years ago and partially printed ten years ago”. This is the first publication of Bickerton's utopian novel set partly in Canterbury, here issued in truncated form; published in full in a London paper in 1903 and (with introduction and annotations by Lyman Tower Sargent) in 2020.
