A highlight of the auction being two rare first edition sets Jane Austen Sense and Sensibility dated 1811and a four volume set of Northanger Abbey and Persuasion dated 1818. Another star lot in the literature section is a rare first edition 2 volume set of the Count of Monte Cristo Other highlights include a good private estate collection of 15th - 18th century antiquarian volumes and an extensive offering of New Zealand and Māori historical books ,and documents including exceptionally rare handwritten letters by Lord Horatio Nelson and his Flag Captain at the Battle of Trafalgar, Captain Hardy as well as interesting Georgian, Victorian and other ephemera from the collection of renowned Wellington collector Stewart Hindmarsh. A near complete set of the Official History of New Zealand in the Second World War 1939-45. The sale also has a good single owner collection of hunting books, including New Zealand, African, Indian and Asian related volumes, also some nice maps including a good copy of Antonio Zatta's 18th century map of New Zealand, and a large early map of the South Pacific.
