Framed with the letter to the top and a card below detailing what would have been written in the letter, Ward at the time the Post-Master General, Clark the Harbour Master at Lyttelton. On New years Day 1901, normally a Bank holiday in New Zealand, post Offices around the country were open for the initial launch and within half an hour of opening, the Wellington Post Office had sold around 10,000 of the stamps. A rare little piece of NZ philatelic and social history.
