the painting shows 12 British ships lower left, with H.M.S. Princess Charlotte furthest right, also includes H.M.S.Powerful, dated 12th September 1840 upper right. This would have been the period they were in Beyrout bombarding General Solimans, or Sueliman Pashas troops, Also interesting is that both sail and steam ships were in the fleet. Some old repairs and sun fading, 23 x 37cm.
