the foreground shows 4 steamers throwing shells over the ships, the various sailing ships named beneath, including Princess Charlotte, Benbow, Edinburgh, Revenge, Powerfull, Thunderer, Talbot, Castor, the text mentions 3 thousand prisoners being taken. An interesting observation is the Royal Navy's use of both wooden and steamships at this time, marking 1840 as a transitional period between sail and steam. The artist is unknown, 28 x 38cm
