1780, Printed by T Spilsbury, London, 1780, 40cm, leaf size 387 x 253mm, frontis, 978pp, 24 leaves of plates, 10 leaves blank, mostly unpaginated, rebacked, spine title direct, Edmondson's Heraldry Vols 1-2. Corners worn, some surface loss to boards, a few pages repaired, Three BP mounted including a presentation plate (From The Collection of the late Lt. Col. George Grant Francis., of Cae Bailey, Sometime President of the Royal Institute of S. Wales. Manuscript letter tipped in to fly leaf, signed J. E. Bicheno, Joseph Edmondson, FSA, was Herald-painter and Mowbray Herald Extraordinary. Lowther records Edmondson as "author of Baronagium Genealogicum 1764, and A Complete Body of Heraldry, 1780, was of humble parentage, becoming a herald-painter, that pursuit led his naturally inquisitive genius to the study of heraldry and family history "Shaw, The fame, within a bordure gu".
