Pou Whakairo (Free Standing Carved Figure ) The ancestral figure with a wheku head with arms to his sides standing on flexed legs. The body adorned with pakati ( dog tooth ) notching. Raised on a wooden plinth. Heavily painted red ochre finish with later painted eyes. Te Arawa, early 20th century. 130 cm height. Y number pending
