Lot Details

oil & 3 Small Related Sketches by Nicholas Chevalier, A view from the river terrace at Westoe Homestead, near Marton (Originally the home of Sir William Fox) looking down on the gardens and farm, oil on board, 35 x 50cm, together with 3 small sketches by Nicholas Chevalier also relating to the house and the area, one signed and titled Westoe and dated 13/12/68, the others of a river study with cattle, and a whare and trees. Provenance ; the works have been handed down through the family of Edith Halcombe by descent to the present vendor. Chevalier was a friend of Sir William Fox, and it is assumed the sketches were made whilst he was a guest at Old Westoe.
