14th Century English Illuminated Manuscript Leaf From A Psalter On vellum, Gothic letter, double column, 38 lines, Psalms 79, 80, 81, illuminated initial E in blue and red upon a gold ground, with decoration extending the full length of the page and most of the upper and lower margins, 30.5 x 21cm. An exceptionally rare and beautiful leaf. Originally in the collection of the late Edward Cyril Simpson, (1894-1979) formerly librarian at the John Rylands Library in Manchester, and with his bookplate verso.
