Lot Details

five ridges to butt with unusual haehae decoration to top of the butt L 43cm Y22903 Provenance: Signed letter dated 12 Feb 1940 that states that the whalebone “mere” was employed at the Gate Pa conflict 1864 and Parihaka 1879. The letter states that it was purchased in New Plymouth 1896 by Mr D. Milligan who passed to W.H Stevens of Wellesley College who in turn gifted it to the letter writer (name ineligible) Ex Lady Macalister Estate
