Lot Details
with wood-engravings by Lynton Lamb. The Golden Cockerel, 1933, limited edition number 315 of 500 signed by the author, 74pp, half red morocco, batik style boards. Ex libris BP's of Matilda Constance Ismay and John Raymond Danson. Matilda was the wife of Charles Bower Ismay, who along with his older brother J Bruce Ismay founded the White Star Shipping Line, which built the Titanic. Lieutenant-Colonel John Raymond Danson (1898-1976) was Captain of the Cheshire Regiment in WWI and was awarded the Military Cross, and served with the 4th Battalion in WWII and retired from the army after the evacuation of Dunkirk to return to the family firm.
