Chapman And Hall, London, 1847 (first and thus cheap edition), 479pp. This edition of Pickwick is important textually in that Dickens made revisions to the text and penned a new preface. Contains 22 full page plates published by J Newman, 48 Watling Strret plus a frontispiece from a design by C. R. Leslie, Esq, R. A., and engraved by J Thompson, half calf, marbled boards, name in ink to TP of Charles Smith, Wanganui.
