Undertaken By The Order Of His Present Majesty For Making Discoveries In The Southern Hemisphere, And Succesfully performed by Commodore Byron, Captain Carteret, Captain Wallis And Captain Cook In the Dolphin, the Swallow, and the Endeavour. Drawn Up From the Journals which were kept by several Commanders, And from the Papers of Joseph Banks Esq. Printed for W. Strahan, and T. Cadell, London, 1773, with 52 engraved maps and charts (42 folding) including the large folding (linen backed) map of the Straits of Magellan, not generally issued with the first edition of the same year. Full calf, ex library, Vol I front board detached, spine joint loose and lacking 2 inches to the top.
