A Rare Meiji Period Satsuma Bowl by Makuzu Kozan The interior finely painted with an eagle nesting in a pine tree, The exterior painted with pine branches. Gilt signature mark to the underside and with affixed Federation of Japanese Pottery Assocation label Makuzu Kozan, also known as Miyagawa Kozan, was a potter from Kyoto who set up a workshop in the suburbs of Yokohama in 1871 to produce ceramics for export to Europe and North America.
