Faber And Faber Limited, London, first edition 1946, inscribed on the front endpaper "This remind you of anything? Paul Brickhill, owners name to pastedown, black cloth, no DJ, frontis and TP taped. The inscription I assume related to the frontis image A rest in a blizzard. Some of the 10,000 allied Air Force prisoners-of-war from Stalag Luft. 3 exhausted in the snow during a ninety-five kilometre forced march following the evacuation of the camp in the face of the oncoming Russian armies in January, 1945.
