Hutchinson and Co., London, 1889. viii, 331, [4,ads]pp, 8vo pictorial cream cloth gilt over bevelled boards, top edge gilt, mild creasing to head & tail of spine, sl. foxing, sound copy inscribed at the head of title to his daughter: “Phoebe Vogel / with the Author’s love”. The frontis of Vogel is not present in this edition. His utopian romance of a world of the future run by female politicians. Bagnall V188 & 5747, arguing that the colonial edition was “the true first issue” as it was shipped from England prior to the publication of the U.K. edition – but it was not on sale in N.Z. until after the U.K.
