Mohoao, i.e. Edwin Fairburn. Hall & Co., London; Sold by Williamson & Wilson, Auckland, 1867. 104pp, 4 leaves of plates, 8vo full brown morocco gilt, spine with raised bands, all edges gilt, rubbing to spine, slight foxing. The original book was printed in London in 1867 and only a few copies were given away; the prologue dated 1884 here added was printed in Auckland that year. Fairburn was born in Paihia in 1827, making this the earliest novel by a New Zealand born writer. Bagnall 1858 (variant).
