Macmillan, London, 1934, reprint in the Cumberland Edition. The book is inscribed by Walpole to film producer David Selznick. 319pp 8vo cloth. Walpole was probably the most collected first-edition author in the 1920s and 30s. He was born in Auckland but left as a child. This, his first novel, contains his only references to New Zealand, and the first ed., 1909, is listed by Bagnall (W230).
