Clifford and Co., Boston, 1880. viii, 295[5]pp, pictorial brown cloth gilt, worn condition, light scattered foxing; the text interspersed with a host of interesting ads. Clifford, a Boston pharmacist sails around the world on a steam yacht visiting many locales where the raw ingredients of perfumes can be found, along the way encountering perils and dramatic challenges, all the time discussing the ingredients of perfumes and home remedies. Pages 119-141 find them in New Zealand.
