Upton died before the 15th July 1487 and this book has been brought together in Latin, with notes by Sir Edward Bysshe, Garter King of Arms. Historically Upton's work was the third text on heraldry; the first by John of Guildford, or Johannes de Bado Aureo, then came a Welsh treatise, the Llfyr arfau, then Nicholas Upton when he was Canon of Salisbury Catherdral in 1440. The work includes four pages of detailed engravings in story board format of ecclesiastical subjects. Ex Bethunes, Lot 548, 21st November, 2007.
