Four parts bound in two folders. The first page reads By Kerry A. L. Hulme Motueka, 1966 - Moeraki & West Coast, 1976 followed by 3 pages of Maori Words And Phrases, each page thereafter numbered to the top right corner in black felt tip pen, with numerous score outs, additions, spelling changes etc. The Bone People was New Zealand's first novel to win the prestigious Booker Prize in 1985, and also the first debut novel ever to win. It was also Keri's wish and blessing that the proceeds from the sale of the manuscript go to help up and coming Maori authors in Aotearoa.
